I received a shiny new Kindle Fire HD for Christmas this year and it is already getting a workout! With my renewed love of reading I’ve decided that I may as well share with the world when I think I’ve found a winner. I’m going to start a series of book reviews called “Book Looks”. This week up for review is:
The One You Love by Paul Pilkington
The One You Love by Paul Pilkington was the first full length novel I read on the Kindle. It’s a short novel at around only 300 pages but they were 300 pages of pure magic for this reader! From the very beginning to the final page, I was completely engaged in the storyline and in each of the characters. The author does a fantastic job of character building; midway through the book I felt like I was an actual part of the characters’ lives.
I am a huge horror/thriller/suspense reader and like to consider myself sort of a connoisseur of the genres. The story has just enough elements of suspense and drama to keep you flipping through the pages. There is even a bit of a love story happening for those of you who prefer your books to have a lighter feel as well.
This book is the first installment of a trilogy and I CANNOT wait to dive into the second and third parts.
The story is told mostly through the eyes of Emma Holden who is a soon-to-be-married actress living in London. Shortly before her wedding her fiance vanishes (or does he?). This installment of the trilogy focuses on Emma searching for answers in her fiance’s disappearance while also learning the true colors of her closest friends and family. Secrets, stalking, murder, betrayal… all found amongst this short novel.
I give this novel 5 out of 5 Looks:
Right now you can get this novel for FREE on Amazon! You really have nothing to lose, so what are you waiting for?! Stop back by after you’ve read it and let me know if you agree with my rating!
